One day earlier in the year, I had a marvelous (or foolish) idea to throw a huge picnic for our Branch; as a way of saying thank you to all the Branch for being so welcoming to Kev and I, and also to raise money for Marie Curie. When I discovered around 30 people were expected to attend the event, the terrifying reality of what I had volunteered myself for became apparent. After many hours of stress, planning and attempting to be organised all the preparations were made and only time would tell if my Picnic would be a triumph.
The weather was glorious, there wasn't a cloud in the sky and spirits were high. There were so many different classic vehicles on display it was certainly a sight to behold. The Branch were out in force, joined by members from nearby Mansfield and Leicester branches our stand in the club paddock had a good range of Minors on display and they were certainly getting plenty of attention from the passing public. Lunchtime arrived and it was time to put my picnic skills to the test. Thankfully my hard work paid off in the end and William successfully hosted his first ever Branch Picnic. There was plenty of food and drink for all, and even a little extra for a few friends and visitors. Finally I could relax happy in the knowledge that my first mass catering attempt had been a success!
Many thanks to everyone from the Branch for a great day at Wollaton Park, to the organisers for putting on a great event and to my partner and friends for enduring my stressful picnic prep!
